COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police have identified a man that was shot and killed on the east side of Columbus, early Wednesday morning.  

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 2:25am, Wednesday, Shotspotter alerted officers to the area of Fairwood Avenue and Gault Street.  

When police arrived on scene, they found Marquise Antwaun Lanier, 23, inside in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Lanier was taken to Grant Medical Center where later died.
