Columbus police accused of improper use of force at vigil

Local News

The Columbus Division of Police are investigating a social media post that alleges improper use of force by an officer during a vigil for a recent homicide victim.

Columbus police are reviewing the matter, including body-worn camera footage, officials announced on Saturday on Facebook.

Police say an Initial review suggests officers used proper restraint in a highly-charged, emotional situation.

The incident occurred at a residence near the site of the homicide and spilled into the street, blocking traffic, police said.

Some attendees were allegedly drinking, police said.

Police officers were called to the scene to make sure streets were clear for traffic, officials said.

One person was arrested.
