Local News

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A Columbus police officer has a surprise for his daughter after he adopted a dog he helped rescue.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, Officer Ken Bozeman was working in the Linden area at around 3:30am, when he saw a dog being kicked by a citizen.

After intervening, the citizen told Bozeman that the dog was a stray that had been in the neighborhood begging for food and he was afraid it was going to bite him.

Bozeman noticed the dog had frozen mud caked in its fur and was afraid, so he fed it a bag of beef jerky, befriending the dog.

Bozeman cleaned the dog up and is adopting it a surprise for his daughter, who recently lost her dog of seven years.

Bozeman plans to surprise his daughter after she gets home from school.
