As runners take their marks at the Columbus Marathon, drivers should expect delays and detours in and around downtown.
Road closures are already in place near the start and finish lines — along portions of West Long Street, West Spring Street and Neil Avenue — and there will be rolling closures along the course, which will weave its way through downtown Columbus, German Village and into the Ohio State University campus area.
If you’re traveling, it’s best to stay on the highway if you can, using Interstate 70, Interstate 670 or Interstate 71 if possible. Otherwise, give yourself a lot of extra travel time through those areas.
All roads are scheduled to reopen by 6pm Sunday.
If you rely on Central Ohio Transit Authority public transportation, you should also expect delays and reroutes. All downtown COTA stops are closed through Sunday afternoon. Passenger transfers will take place at Fourth and Spring streets as well as Long and Fourth streets. COTA lines 1, 2, 2L, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 22, 31, CBUS, CMAX and AirConnect are affected by these closures. Tap or click here for a list of all closed COTA stops.
