Coal barges break loose near Pittsburgh, strike bridge

PITTSBURGH, PA (WCMH) – More than a dozen coal barges broke loose near Pittsburgh Thursday afternoon.

According to WPXI, two of the barges sank, three struck a bridge, and four are still moving down the river.

The Homestead Grays Bridge and Rankin bridges are closed to traffic.
