COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Award-winning journalist, political scientist and author Fareed Zakaria will deliver the commencement address at the Ohio State University’s spring commencement.

University officials made the announcement in a press release Thursday. Currently, Zakaria hosts CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS and is a columnist for the Washington Post and a contributor to The Atlantic.

“I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Fareed Zakaria will join us as our speaker for Ohio State’s spring commencement ceremony,” President Michael Drake said. “An award-winning journalist and best-selling author, Dr. Zakria is a leading voice in our national discourse on global and domestic affairs. His extensive knowledge of our broader world will enrich and inspire our graduates as they embark to make a meaningful difference in communities near and fair.”

This will be Zakaria’s second time speaking at OSU. In 2016, he delivered the keynote speech during the centennial celebration for the Fisher College of Business.

Zakaria will speak before the university hands out more than 11,000 diplomas during the ceremony on May 5.
