A local church will honor thousands of teachers this week, by providing them with a free lunch.
Beginning Monday, volunteers from the Rock City Church will partner with Chick-fil-A to deliver more than 5,000 meals to the teachers at more than 100 schools.
The effort is part of the church’s “Teacher Appreciation Week.”
“I think it’s amazing,” said Andy Bosley, a teacher at Wedgewood Middle School. “It’s really cool to see somebody in the city stepping up just to show the teachers that they’re appreciated.”
Church leaders said this is the least they could do for area educators.
“We’re just excited to be able to share our appreciation for all that they do for our city and the kids here,” said Katie Fisher, the executive director of Rock City Church.
The meals will be distributed over the course of two days.
This is the fifth year that Rock City Church has participated in “Teacher Appreciation Week.”
