COLUMBUS (WCMH) — More than 100 veterans are back in central Ohio with memories of a trip they say they will never forget.
The men and women aboard the 94th honor flight arrived at John Glenn International Airport to hundreds of well-wishers welcoming them home. The veterans spent all of Tuesday touring the monuments and memorials in the nation’s capital.
For many, the most emotional part was when they stopped at the Vietnam Veterans’ memorial.
“It was unbelievable. It really was unbelievable. There’s a lot of people on that wall. There’s a lot of names on that wall and we’re all standing here because of them,” said veteran Cheryl Desjarlais.
Several more honor flights are scheduled to leave Columbus in the coming months. The next flight departs April 27.
