As thousands of students graduate across Central Ohio, one graduation proved to be extra special for one family.
Frank Fernandez serves as the Capital University police chief.
For years, he has worked toward receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Sociology.
In December, he completed the class work.
On Saturday, Fernandez received his diploma from the same school where he works.
“It’s never too late to continue education, that’s for sure,” he said, moments after walking across the stage.
That moment, is one he said he will never forget, because seconds earlier, his youngest daughter also received her diploma.
“I’m actually so honored that out of all three of us kids, I get to be the one to graduate with him,” said Frankie Fernandez. “He works so hard, going to school, and putting all of us through school. I’m definitely inspired.”
Chief Fernandez said he plans on staying in his current role, with his degree in hand.
His daughter said plans for further education may be in her future.
