Bus with students on board crashes into home in east Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — No students were injured after a bus crashed into a home in east Columbus.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, just before 7am, Wednesday, emergency crews were called to the 400 block of N. Monroe Avenue on the report of a bus crash. 

Police say a bus crashed into a home while students were on board. 

Video from the scene shows the bus wedged between two homes after the crash. 

No injuries were reported.  As police continue to investigate the crash, the district is doing an investigation of its own according to a spokesperson. NBC4 reached out to a district spokesperson and requested an interview. .They said the district is continuing the investigation.That includes both examining the bus and the driver’s actions.

The spokesperson said a mechanical issue was reported, and there is more to investigate. Destiny Augustine said the bus stopped just inches away from her window. 

“We are very grateful but everything is chaos all the time so it didn’t happen. It’s good,” said Augustine.
