The Columbus Blue Jackets celebrated their home opener in style, with the annual plaza party ahead of Friday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Hundreds of fans lined the plaza outside of Nationwide Arena as the players walked the “blue carpet.”
Some players stopped for pictures with fans before entering the arena.
The Blue Jackets have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs in both of the last two seasons, but have been eliminated by the eventual champion.
This year, fans are hoping for even more success.
“I think that Columbus is so hungry for anything good to happen with this team,” Chris Strawser said. “They have to believe in themselves too. They have to believe they can do it and I think they’re at that point now. They’re ready.”
The Blue Jackets’ next home game is Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
