Benefit concert held at OWU in honor of those killed in Pittsburgh synagogue shooting

DELAWARE, OH (WCMH) – Tuesday marks one month since 11 people were shot and killed at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Monday, Ohio Wesleyan University held a benefit concert in honor of Ohio Wesleyan alum Becca Sufrin, who lost two relatives in Pittsburgh.

“We hope to send the message of love and care both with our tangible gifts but also with our hearts,” said Ohio Wesleyan chaplain Jon Powers.

The music is a tool to aid in saying the community is with those who are grieving.

“We’re with you. We care for you. We all need to work together to make sure this kind of thing never happens again,” said Powers.

The benefit raised $900 for Repair the World, an organization which gives thousands of young Jews volunteer opportunities.
