POWELL, OH (WCMH) — The baby elephant born at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium last week will make her first public appearance, Monday.
After much anticipation from elephant fans, the female elephant calf born to mother, Phoebe, at the Columbus Zoo, will make her first public appearance today between the hours of 3pm until 6pm.
The calf and her mother will spend time in the elephant community room located in the Vanishing Giants building in the Zoo’s Asia Quest region, where the public can view them while still offering them some privacy as they continue to bond.
The zoo says this schedule is determined by Phoebe and her calf and will be adjusted accordingly to best fit their needs.
The calf is the first elephant born at the Columbus Zoo in almost 10 years and the first to be born at the Zoo as a result of artificial insemination.
