COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus is the only Ohio city that AT&T has launched its new 5G Evolution technology.
According to a release from AT&T, Columbus joins over 100 other cities around the country that the carrier launched its 5G Evolution, which is said to be capable of delivering speeds of up to 400 megabits per second to your cell phone.
“We’re building a 5G network that will fundamentally change the way the world lives and works,” said Melissa Arnoldi, president of Technology & Operations. “5G will provide a wireless experience that is faster, more responsive and more secure for our customers.”
However, if you’re an iPhone owner, you’ll have to wait for the 5G technology. For now, AT&T’s 5G Evolution technology is only available on the following phones: Samsung Galaxy lineup – S8, S9, S8+, S9+, Note8 and S8 Active – as well as the LG V30 and Moto Z2 Force Edition.
But don’t blame the lack of speed on the iPhone on AT&T. According to CNET, it was Apple that failed to provide its current lineup of phones with the technology to handle 5G.
AT&T plans to launch the 5G Evolution in Cleveland later this year. For a full list of cities with 5G Evolution technology go to AT&T.com.
