At watch party, Franklin Co. Sheriff says Live PD helps build relationship with community

COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) —  As a result of the overwhelmingly positive feedback by Central Ohio viewers for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office feature on Live PD, the sheriff’s office hosted the first Live PD Watch Party for local fans of the show.

It was a watch party with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office like no other. Nearly 1,000 people attended the watch party.

“I think it’s pretty great,” said Miranda Glaindo. “It brings the community together.”

Several people could not wait to meet some of the deputies and their canine partners they’ve come to enjoy for who they are and what they actually do.

“So it’s nice to see even our police officers are human just like us,” said Glanido.

Josh Kelly of Amherst, Ohio, said, “It definitely gives you a sense of that, wow, it can be scary.”

Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said Live PD Nation has helped them build a stronger bond with this community.

He said he is proud to see people from every part of the community mingle as if this was a neighborhood get together.

“It breaks down a lot of barriers it shows we’re not strangers and we’re not from a different community,” said Baldwin. “We’re all a part of the community we all live here. We believe very strongly in building strong community ties and when this opportunity came up, I looked at it as a way to show how professional and how we do our jobs and to be open, to be very transparent, and that’s why we try to do.”
