Arrest made in connection with deadly bus stop assault

Columbus police have arrested a man in connection with an altercation at an east side bus stop that led to another man’s death.

Richard Spirnak, 45, has been charge with one felony count of assault after investigators say that he was the man who fought with Brandon Nicholson on July 23.

Columbus police were called to a bus stop at James Road and East Main Street on Monday, July 23 at approximately 8:04p.m. on the report of a fight.

Responding officers found an unresponsive male, later identified as Brandon Nicholson, 41, suffering from a head injury.

Columbus Fire medics transported Nicholson to Grant Medical Center where he remained in critical condition until Monday, July 30, when he succumbed to his injuries and died.
