FAYETTE COUNTY, OH (WCMH) – Firefighters from five counties are on the scene of a large barn fire in Fayette County that killed 5,000 pigs.

It started Tuesday afternoon at a facility at 7111 Old US 35 in Wayne Township.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the fire spread quickly through the facility, causing intense heat and heavy smoke. The heat and smoke made it difficult for firefighters to get inside.

Aerial video shows firefighters working to contain a fire inside two barns. The roof of much of the structure appears to be destroyed.
