COLUMBUS (WCMH) – NBC4 and Mid-Ohio Foodbank teamed up Friday to raise money and collect donations for hungry neighbors in central Ohio.

Team members collected $17,023 and 6,500 pounds of food on Friday, Nov. 10.

Donations collected today will help the Mid-Ohio Foodbank provide 74,592 meals – up from 60,909 meals collected at our drive in 2016.

Donations will stock the shelves for Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s network of more than 650 pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, senior living centers, day care and after-school programs in 20 counties in central and eastern Ohio.

Deborah Gibson and Shannah Bozman both visit MOFB, and spoke with NBC4’s Dan Pearlman.

“I usually go at least two to three times a month,” Bozman said. “If not, we’d be hungry.”

“Before the pantry, we didn’t eat,” Gibson said. “The food pantry helps meals to stretch throughout the month where ends don’t meet.”

Gibson said she is grateful to those who donate.

“Thank you for giving to not just myself, but to our neighbors,” she said. “You’re giving to the neighbors, the community and building stronger healthier kids.”
