2 injured, portion of I-270 closed for hours after chain-reaction crash

Two people were transported to area hospitals after a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 270 on Friday that closed the highway for about two and a half hours.

The crash occurred on I-270 eastbound at milepost 23 when Shawn McCombs, 45 of Johnstown, struck a vehicle in front him in the rear, causing a chain-reaction crash involving three other vehicles, according to the Columbus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

McCombs was then struck by Banny Kham 33, of Blacklick, who was also traveling eastbound on I-270. Kham struck Mr. McCombs in the rear.

McCombs was transported to Riverside with serious injuries and Kham was transported to Riverside with minor injuries.

The Columbus Post was assisted on scene by Sharon Twp. Police Department, Columbus Fire Department and EMS and Ohio Department of Transportation.
