A man and a woman are dead and two children were injured after a vehicle crashed into a house on James Road on Sunday.

The accident occurred at about 1:25 a.m. when a person driving a 2006 BMW lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a home at 1277 S. James Road, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the BMW was identified as Tavaughn Collins, age 27 of Columbus, Ohio. He did not have a valid driver’s license and had a warrant for driving under suspension. The passenger was identified as Olivia Collins, age 25. They were brother and sister.

Collins fled deputies out of a traffic stop and was traveling northbound on James Road south of Livingston Avenue at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. The vehicle drove through several yards before it rolled and ejected the driver and front passenger, according to the sheriff’s office.

Tavaughn and Olivia were pronounced deceased on scene. Two children in car seats in the back of the BMW were injured and transported by medics to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

The two children were identified as Zariya Brown, 2, and Zaaki Brown,1, of Columbus, Ohio and are still in stable condition.

The driver and his passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Officials say alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.
