1 killed after shooting in Linden neighborhood

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police in Columbus are investigating a shooting that left one person dead in the Linden area.

30-year-old Cornelius Casimere was pronounced dead at the scene. 28-year-old Derek Boone, who was at the scene, admitted to being the shooter. He was taken to police headquarters and charged with murder.

According to Columbus Police, the shooting happened shortly before noon along the 2200 block of Homestead Drive. That address is near Linden McKinley High School.

This is the 111th homicide in Columbus for calendar year 2020.
