COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Gunnar Hoak, a Dublin native and quarterback for the University of Kentucky announced Saturday that he will transfer to Ohio State.
Hoak posted the following announcement to Twitter:
I would like to formally announce that I am excited to accept an offer to continue my football and academic careers at THE Ohio State University. Ever since I was born at OSU hospital, some aspect of my life has always involved scarlet and gray. I’ve heard my Dad’s football stories with Coach Bruce, I’ve seen my Uncle coach countless Buckeye games in The ‘Shoe, and watched my cousin win a National Championship. And while I have gained so much experience during my time in Lexington, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to continue a family legacy.
I would like to sincerely thank Coach Hinshaw, Coach Gran and Coach Stoops for the chance to be a part of the Big Blue Nation and earn a degree from an institution as respected as the University of Kentucky. To my teammates and the fans, I’ll never forget the rush of coming out of the tunnel each week and being a part of taking the program to new heights. I wish Kentucky nothing but the best!
To my parents, my girlfriend and my family, thank you for always supporting me no matter the circumstances.
This weekend, I’m looking forward to walking across the stage at graduation to get my degree and then… I’m coming home! #GoBucks #ColumbusBound
As a graduate transfer, Hoak will be eligible to play immediately. He has two years of eligibility left.
