West side restaurant cleans up its act after ‘Up to Code’ report

Up to Code

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A West Side restaurant we exposed has cleaned up its act. The health department gives a popular bar another chance to get Up to Code. And we’re honoring a fish and seafood market with the coveted NBC 4 Up to Code Award.

La Plaza Tapatia, 4233 Shoppers Lane, has been a regular stop this year for the Franklin County Public Health Department. Five inspections for a total of 76 violations.

On July 10, the restaurant had an administrative hearing. Managers submitted a course of action in how to get this place back Up to Code. It worked. The restaurant passed its last inspection with flying colors. Not a single violation.

Last Friday, Fairweathers Café, 3747 Trabue Road, also had an administrative hearing with the health department. Four inspections this year for 60 violations.

The business agreed to improve food safety, cleaning, and work with a licensed pest control company.

This week’s NBC 4 Up to Code Award goes to Frank’s Fish and Seafood Market and Café, 5251 Trabue Road.
