DELAWARE CO., OH (WCMH) – Two people are dead after a four car accident on U.S. 23 just north of Lazelle Road.

It happened around 11am on Thursday.

55-year-old Robert Fish and 54-year-old Lisa Hiles were killed in the crash. Both are from Columbus and were in the front of the same vehicle.

Ohio State Highway Patrol said Fish was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on U.S. 23 when he traveled left of center and hit a Ford Focus head-on. That car then struck a semi-truck. Another car was hit by debris from the crash.

Two other passengers in Fish’s car were transported in serious condition to the hospital. The driver of the Ford Focus also had serious injuries.

Customers waiting inside a nearby car dealership said they heard it all happen from inside.

“I heard this loud boom or a crashing sound,” said Andy Backs. “You start thinking about the people involved in the accident, their families. It’s the holiday season and it happened right during the middle of the day.”

Justin Stobbs said he ran outside to see what happened.

“Myself and some of the employees tried getting blankets, anything we could to help out on site there,” he said. “I’m counting my blessings that I’m safe. I feel really bad for the family that was involved.”

Ohio State Highway Patrol said it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved in the cause of this crash. None of the passengers in Fish’s car were wearing seatbeltsKeep checking NBC4i.com for real-time updates on this story.
