Cooking with Dad program aims to build relationships, teach healthy cooking

Health News

The annual African-American Male Wellness Walk is still a couple months away, but there are plenty of related initiatives happening in central Ohio.

Cooking with Dad is a free health initiative for fathers and their children. It aims to encourage healthy relationships and expose people to resources and methods to create simple, healthy meals right at home.

Chef Carnell Willoughby and Randal Sistrunk and his son, Jordan, are all involved with the Cooking with Dad program. They stopped by the NBC4 studios this weekend to show viewers how to make Power Pasta with spinach and mushrooms. You can watch the full segment above for the complete recipe.

Cooking with Dad is open to everyone ages 3 and up. Their next program is Thursday, June 14, at the Marion-Franklin Recreation Center at 2801 Lockbourne Road. Hands-on demonstrations are available from 6 to 8pm, free health screenings are available from 6 to 7:30pm and a cook off challenge beings at 7:15pm and goes until 8pm.

Cooking with Dad and the African-American Male Wellness Walk are part of the African-American Male Wellness Iniative.
