Girl taken to Children’s Hospital in critical condition after shooting in near east Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) — A teenage girl was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital after a shooting on the near east side.

Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Hildreth Avenue around 10:12pm Thursday on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 13-year-old girl suffering from two gunshot wounds. According to Columbus Police, the girl was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in “very critical condition.”

Investigators say initial information indicates the girl was talking to friends outside when she was shot by an unknown suspect from across the street. Neighbors told police they heard at least four shots fired.
