Girl, 12, struck by vehicle in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — A 12-year-old girl was airlifted to Columbus after being hit by a car.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at about 7:33pm, Monday, troopers were called to a pedestrian crash in the area of Marion Cardington Road East near Oakdale Drive.

Troopers say Roger L. Mitchell, 48, of Marion, was driving a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country westbound, when a 12-year-old girl crossed in front of him.

The girl was struck by the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Marion General Hospital before being taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by helicopter.

Mitchell was not injured in the crash and stayed on scene, according to troopers.
