As self-driving cars become a reality, one expert is raising concerns about an unusual form of distracted driving.
“I am predicting that, once computers are doing the driving, there will be a lot more sex in cars,” Barrie Kirk of the Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence told the Canadian Press.
“That’s one of several things people will do which will inhibit their ability to respond quickly when the computer says to the human, ‘Take over.”‘
The issue is one of many concerns highlighted in a briefing to officials writing self-driving car regulations in Canada.
Part of the problem is that current self-driving technology does not make a car truly self-driving, it merely performs some of the tasks that a person would do and sometimes needs human input.
