FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WCMH) — A Florida man was arrested Friday morning after police say he used a bedpost to attack a mattress where he apparently thought another man was hiding.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that the girlfriend of 37-year-old Felipe Oquendo told deputies that he began acting erratically after smoking methamphetamine.
The girlfriend reported Oquendo thought she was cheating on him with a man inside the mattress. He stabbed the mattress with a bedpost, then ripped it apart with his hands, police said.
Police said he had locked her in the bedroom and wouldn’t let her leave. While he was stabbing the mattress, she said she was able to unlock the door and left.
The sheriff’s office said Oquendo told deputies he was fighting the man in the mattress, holding him down when they arrived, but the man slipped out and left.
Oquendo was arrested and charged with domestic violence-related false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His girlfriend was not injured.
