Police: Thieves make off with nearly $2,000 worth of cigarettes during gas station burglary

Investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify two thieves who broke into an Upper Arlington gas station and stole nearly $2,000 worth of cigarettes.

It happened on Monday, Aug. 13 around 1:12am at the Speedway gas station on the 3600 block of Riverside Drive in Upper Arlington. Police say the two men pried the front door of the store open and raided the cigarette stand, taking $1,800 worth of cigarettes. The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers President Kristen McKinley said someone has to know who the thieves are.

“If you recognize them and you think you might know who they are, give us a call,” McKinley said. “If you know of anybody that all of the sudden is selling a whole bunch of cigarettes for a really good price, I’d ask you to call with that information.”

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of these two men. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS(8477). You can also submit a tip online at www.stopcrime.org or through the free P3 Tips app, available for iOS and Android devices. All tips are anonymous and calls are never recorded.
