It happened on June 2 around 7:45am. The victim was riding a bicycle in the northbound lane of Red Bank road in the area of Lake of the Woods Drive. Witnesses told police the woman was struck by the side mirror of the vehicle, causing her to fly off her bike and land on the berm of Red Bank Road.

The driver of the vehicle sped from the scene, going north on Red Bank Road. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for severe lacerations and bruises. Luckily, the woman is recovering from her injuries.

Police say the vehicle involved is an older model light or white-colored 4-door vehicle. It may have duct tape or plastic over the front passenger-side window. Officers recovered the passenger side mirror, which fell off when it struck the cyclist.
