CRIME OF THE WEEK: Masked man robs east Columbus shoe store at gunpoint


Investigators are offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the man responsible for robbing an east Columbus shoe store at gunpoint earlier this month.

According to police, on Saturday, Sept. 8, an unknown black man walked into the Footlocker store on the 3700 block of East Broad Street and brandished a black handgun. He pointed the gun at the employee behind the register and told him to drop his cell phone.

The suspect then went behind the cash register and demanded the employee’s code. He opened the cash drawer and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a very thin black male standing between 5-feet, 10-inches and 6-feet tall. He was wearing all black with a pink cloth over his face. He has a raspy voice and walked with a slight limp.
