A Columbus man accused of murdering an 18-year-old is being held on a $1 million bond.

Kiez Deangelo Collins, 20, appeared before a judge in Franklin County Municipal Court Tuesday morning.

According to court documents, police responded to a shooting near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and East Deshler Avenue just before 4:30am Saturday, May 26. When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the ground in front of a house. The victim, later identified as Desean Bonet, 18, was taken to Grant Medical Center where he later died.

Surveillence video and witnesses helped investigators identify the shooting suspect as Collins. According to police, Collins and Bonet were involved in an altercation that escalated into Collins firing a gun at Bonet and striking him multiple times.
