COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Amazon’s Prime Now has applied for licenses that could allow for the delivery of beer and wine in the Columbus area.
According to applications filed with the Division of Liquor Control, Prime Now LLC is seeking C1, C2 and D6 licenses for its location on Interchange Road on the west side of Columbus.
Those licenses allow for carryout beer and wine sales as well as Sunday sales.
According to Division of Liquor Control documents, C permit holders are allowed to make sales for delivery.
Prime Now is also applying for permits in the Cincinnati area.
Prime Now launched in Columbus in May and currently offers tens of thousands of items, with key essentials like paper towels, milk and ice cream. They also offer electronics such as laptops and Kindle devices.PHOTOS: Inside Amazon Prime Now’s Columbus warehouse
According to Columbus Business First, Prime Now already offers alcohol delivery in markets like Seattle, Manhattan and Minneapolis.
Amazon has not yet responded to a request asking for more details about the time-frame for launching alcohol delivery in Columbus.
If you don’t want to wait for Amazon to start its delivery service, Columbus bases Alcohol Deliveries officially opened its doors last week. Alcohol Deliveries uses a network of grocery and liquor stores along with an on-demand mobile app to deliver beer, wine and liquor to most of the Columbus area.
Alcohol Deliveries plans to expand to Cleveland and Cincinnati by the end of the year.
