Columbus man shoots potential burglar early Saturday morning

The residents of a home in the 100 block of Maynard Avenue heard someone pounding or kicking on their door around 3 a.m., police said. One of the men inside the house went downstairs to check what was going on. Two suspects forced the door open and pointed a gun at him, and he started to run back upstairs.

Police say the second resident heard what was going on and grabbed his shotgun, left his bedroom and moved towards the stairwell. When he saw one of the suspects, identified as 28-year-old Tony Kendrick, he fired his gun and hit Kendrick in the arm.

Kendrick and another unknown suspect fled the scene. Police say Kendrick was arrested after he was located at the hospital. He has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary.What others are clicking on:
