COLUMBUS (WCMH) – The OSU Women’s Basketball team fell short of making it to the Sweet Sixteen.

The Chippewas defeated the Buckeyes 95-78.

It wasn’t the outcome fans wanted, but many of them were out in force to support their OSU women.

“They’re far more exciting to watch. They have to play as a team. They don’t have a chance to really be just a single star,” said fan Susan Fillmore. “They have to do it all together.”

But, despite their loss, fans are still proud of their Buckeyes.

“It was a tough night. I think that Central team up north was having an unbelievable run of three’s and playing lights out and you know we just didn’t have it,” said fan Sally Betz.

“The girls had an exciting season. I mean, Big Ten regular season champs, conference tournament champs and they played hard tonight. They just didn’t play their best game,” said fan James Hill. “Tough game tonight. Tough game tonight.”

Basketball fans can still get their tournament fix. The Women’s Final Four is being hosted in Columbus.
