Buckeyes, new head coach, open Spring Football

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Here are some of the key notes from Ohio State’s first spring practice under head coach Ryan Day:

Tackle Thayer Munford and safety Jordan Fuller are among the veteran players sitting out spring football due to injuries from this past season.

Transfer QB Justin Fields took a majority of snaps during the window media was allowed to watch. Fields has a lively arm and threw some impressive balls. Matthew Baldwin took the second most snaps.

Safety Brendon White may convert to a linebacker/safety hybrid position. White went through early drills in practice with the linebacker group.

Freshman DE Zach Harrison will wear #33 and he looked comfortable in early drills. Fellow 5-star recruit, WR Garrett Wilson, will wear #5.

It was also the first practice for five new assistant coaches on the staff. QB coach Mike Yurcich, LB coach Al Washington, defensive coordinators Greg Mattison and Jeff Hafley and special teams coordinator Matt Barnes.
