‘Bathroom bandit’ arrested after being flushed out by public tips


COLUMBUS (WCMH) —  Columbus police say they have arrested the “Bathroom bandit” after receiving tips from the public.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, 57-year-old Gilbert Duwayne Courts was arrested at about 11:15am today, on W. Broad Street.

Courts has been charged with 12 counts of burglary and 12 counts of vandalism.

Police say Courts would walk into the men’s restroom, disconnects the plumbing, and leaves with the stolen parts in a backpack. He is accused of picking apart commodes at various restaurants on Georgesville Road and West Broad Street as well as the Kmart on Stringtown Road and Mount Carmel West Hospital.

According to police Courts was stealing the bathroom fixtures for scrap to support a drug habit.What others are clicking on:
