AEP Ohio crews headed to Florida to help during Hurricane Matthew

REYNOLDSBURG, OH (WCMH) —  Fifty AEP Ohio bucket and auger trucks along with 140 line crewmen are headed to Florida to help get the electric power back on after Hurricane Matthew passes.

The crews will stage near Jacksonville at Lake City, FL and will be working with Florida Light and Power. Distribution Systems Supervisor Kevin Castle said first they will focus on emergency operations, hospitals and hotels. He said crews are expecting to work 16 hour days for the first two weeks, with more personnel rotating in as needed.

Crews left from five Central Ohio Service Centers and expect to arrive in Florida on Friday.
