JEROME TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) – A man and woman were found dead in a Jeep Saturday after an off-road accident near Plain City.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office said they received a 911 call shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday regarding a possible injury accident in the 7800 block of Industrial Parkway near Plain City.

Sheriff Jamie Patton said a passing truck driver noticed the Jeep at the bottom of a culvert and called 911.

Deputies and medics found the bodies of 29-year-old Trevor Zimmerman of Plain City and 21-year-old Sarah Lee of Marysville inside the Jeep.

According to investigators, Zimmerman and Lee were ‘four wheeling’ in adjoining fields and tried to cross the creek, when the Jeep became lodged against the embankment.

Deputies said Zimmerman and Lee remained in the vehicle while they waited for a tow truck. While waiting, the vehicle’s exhaust was submerged under the water and the vehicle continued to idle.

The incident remains under investigation. The Franklin County Coroner will perform autopsies in order to determine the final cause of death.
