COLUMBUS (WCMH) — As the longest government shutdown in the history of the United States continues to drag on, several businesses and organizations in central Ohio are offering assistance, deals and freebies to furloughed federal workers.

The Columbus Zoo is offering free admission to federal employees affected by the government shutdown. According to a press release from the Columbus Zoo, federal employees who are furloughed due to the government shutdown and their immediate family members will be admitted to the zoo for free for as long as the shutdown continues. The $10 charge for parking still applies during this promotion.
Furloughed federal employees can get a free taco when they present their government employee ID at any Condado location.
COSI is offering free general admission to furloughed federal employees and their immediate families during the government shutdown. Present your federal employee ID at COSI’s box office.
The Central Ohio Transit Authority is offering free 31-day bus passes for all federal employees and contractors affected by the government shutdown. Eligible workers must show their federal employee ID and furlough letter at COTA’s Pass Sales Office on the first floor of 33 N. High Street. Their office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Doggie Day Spa is offering free self-washes to all federal employees throughout the government shutdown. They will have all the supplies needed for washing your dog, so all you need to bring is your pupper and your federal employee ID, no appointment necessary.
Through Sunday, Fazoli’s is offering furloughed federal employees with a valid federal employee ID a free Pizza Baked Spaghetti with the purchase of a drink at participating locations. This offer is limited to one meal per eligible guest per day.
