Top Spots: Five of the best arcades and arcade bars in Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) - Calling all pinball wizards: Wednesday is National Video Game Day, and we here at NBC4 are going old school.

I asked NBC4 viewers what their favorite arcades and arcade bars in the Columbus area are, and here’s what they said:

Old North Arcade

Where: 2591 N. High St., Columbus

Move over, Chuck E. Cheese: this ain’t the arcade of your childhood. Old North Arcade is everything your inner nerd could ask for as an adult. They have one of the state’s largest collections of classic arcade games, pinball, air hockey, console games as more. What’s more: If you’re drinking, you play for free. Bonus: Their drink menu has over 20 craft drafts and tons of gaming-inspired cocktails (my go-to: the On Like Donkey Kong made with root beer, vanilla vodka and crème de banana with a cherry garnish).

Level One Bar + Arcade

Where: 130 Hutchinson Ave., Columbus

Take a trip back in time (no DeLorean or Doc Brown required) at Level One Bar + Arcade. Located in the Crosswoods, this ‘80s-themed arcade bar has all the greats: Ms. Pac Man, Space Invaders, Tron, Mortal Kombat… the list goes on and on. Plus, they have a huge selection of draft beer and aptly named cocktails like Pong and Frogger.

16-Bit Bar + ArcadeWhere: 254 S. Fourth St., Columbus

Unleash your inner child (and take advantage of the privileges of being an adult with an awesome drink list) at 16-Bit Bar + Arcade, located in downtown Columbus. They have more than 40 vintage arcade games on the floor and have themed nights with drink specials five nights a week.

Brewcadia

Where: 467 N. High St., Columbus

With everything from arcade classics like skeeball and Centipede to newer board game favorites like Cards Against Humanity and Munchkin, Brewcadia combines the best of old-school fun and modern party favorites. They have 40 beers on draft and cocktails like the Princess Peach Manhattan and Pac-Man’s Potion. Plus, if you’re drinking or eating, you play for free.

Arcade Super Awesome

Where: 892 Oak St., Columbus

If you’re an old-school gaming aficionado, Arcade Super Awesome is the place to be. It has a stellar pinball lineup and is the only place in Ohio where you will find Killer Queen. Test your pinball skills in their pinball league or just unwind with a few no-pressure games after grabbing a slice at Yellow Brick Pizza downstairs. This place is also kid-friendly until 9pm, but it does get crowded on the weekends.
