September is National Yoga Month, which makes it the perfect time to try a class. Bonus: Several studios are offering free classes this month.
According to the Harvard Medical School, studies have shown that yoga has an entire host of health benefits, from lowering blood pressure and stress levels to helping you lose weight through physical activity and a focus on mindfulness. So, grab your mat and get you downward facing dog on with these free classes in Columbus this month:
Every Tuesday and Friday, Yoga on High offers a karma yoga donation class, and every Saturday they offer the ABC Inclusive class, which is designed to be an approachable, body-positive, culturally diverse class. Classes consist of stretching, breath awareness, various yoga asanas and relaxation. All skill levels are welcome, so don’t worry if you don’t have any experience. Detox from your weekend with free yoga classes at lululemon on select Sunday mornings. Head over to Easton Square every Friday morning this month for a free yoga session. The class is designed for beginners with a focus on strength and flexibility. Anyone over age 13 may participate. Please BYOM (bring your own mat). Classes are from 8:30 – 9:30am.
This month, the Yoga Health Foundation is working to make yoga more accessible to people from all walks of life. Register for a free yoga month card, and you can enjoy up to a week of free classes at select studios. Participating studios in central Ohio include GoYoga New Albany, GoYoga Worthington, GoYoga Powell, GoYoga Upper Arlington, the Institute for Holistic Careers, Yoga-Well-Being and Fitness Firm.
