With Halloween approaching, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get your spooky on with the whole family.

From Boo at the Zoo and haunted Statehouse tours to a Ghost Trolley tour and a Halloween pet costume competition, here are 10 ways you and your family can celebrate the season without breaking the bank.

All weekend:

Boo at the Zoo

Bring the entire family to the Columbus Zoo for this “merry-not-scary” Halloween event! Boo festivities begin at 5pm each day and special regions in the zoo will even be dressed up for the event. This event is included with your Columbus Zoo membership or paid admission.

Friday:

Halloween Family Fun Night

Get dressed up and head over to Three Creeks Metro Park for a night of spooky stories, s’mores around the campfire, trunk-or-treating and more. Kids are encouraged to wear costumes. Admission is free.

Halloween Treat Trail Party

Grad the kids over to the Everal Barn and Homestead in Westerville for a family-friendly night of fun. There will be Halloween-themed games, vendor alley, and horse-drawn carriage rides. Remember to wear your costumes! Admission is free.

Highbanks Lantern Stroll

Head over to Highbanks Metro Park Friday night for the 2018 Lantern Stroll. You’ll take a 1-mile, lantern-lit hike on the Dripping Rock Trail. The stroll starts at 7pm and admission is free.

Worthington Community Center Halloween Party

Have your kids take their costumes for a test drive at the Worthington Community Center’s Halloween party! There will be a dinosaur-themed trick-or-treat trail, live music, carnival games, hayrides and more. Admission is free.

Friday and Saturday:

Circleville Pumpkin Show

If you haven’t made your way down to the Circleville Pumpkin Show this year, now’s your chance! The final two days of “The Greatest Free Show on Earth” are jam-packed with fun, food, and of course pumpkins. Tap or click here for the full schedule.

Ghost Trolley Tour

Get ready for some kid-friendly Halloween fun at the Ohio Railway Museum. Tour the decorated yard and rial cards before boarding the streetcar. Once the streetcar leaves the station, it’s lights out and you will learn the tail of the Ghost Trolley. Tours happen every half hour on Friday and Saturday, and tickets are just $10.

Haunted Statehouse Tours

Get your spooky on with a haunted tour of the Ohio Statehouse on Friday and Saturday. This year’s tours will feature recently found “evidence” of paranormal activity at the Capitol and will incorporate a new story or two with an updated tour route. Tickets for adults are $12 and tickets for kids under age 12 are just $6. Tap or click here to purchase your tickets.

Sunday:

Easton Halloween Pet Parade and Fall Festival

Grab your furry friend and head over to Easton for their annual Halloween Pet Parade and Fall Festival on Sunday. There will be a pet costume contest with awards for Best Group, Best Duo, Cutest, Funnies, most Creative and Scariest. Tap or click here for more information.

Trick-or-Treat Trail

Get the entire family dressed up for the Gallant Woods Park Trick-or-Treat Trail. Kids can gather treats along the s-p-o-o-k-y trail, decorate pumpkins, enjoy a hayride and vote for their favorite scarecrow. Admission is free. Tap or click here for more information.
