Liz McGiffin is an Emmy award-winning meteorologist who forecasts the weather for NBC4 each weekend morning on NBC4 Today.
Liz grew up in the Kansas City area and earned her degree in atmospheric science from the University of Missouri while working for the NBC Station in Columbia, MO. She is an active member of the American Meteorological Society and is currently serving on the board for early career professions.
Liz moved to Columbus from Springfield, MO where she was the weekend meteorologist. Before that, she was the morning and noon meteorologist in Medford, OR and had a quick stop in St. Joseph, MO as the weekend meteorologist.
Forecasting the weather for different parts of the country has helped Liz to appreciate how different the weather can be, and how important it is to make sure that you are getting the most accurate forecast possible. Liz might still be new to the area, but she’s no stranger to forecasting for all 4 seasons in an area where “If you don’t like the weather, just wait 15 minutes.”
Liz is looking forward to spending time checking out local golf courses, getting involved with the west coast swing dance community and surviving CrossFit classes.
If you see Liz out and about (she’ll be the one in Mizzou, Chiefs or Royals gear!), make sure to say hello!
