COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — NBC4 is committed to bringing viewers important in-depth information on Alzheimer’s Disease with interviews with local experts, personal stories from families, and information on treatments and breakthroughs.

Hosted by Colleen Marshall, the 2022 special, “A Journey through Alzheimer’s,” will air Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. on NBC4.

During the program, viewers will have the opportunity to connect with a team of experts on Alzheimer’s staffing our CALL 4 lines who will answer questions from warning signs to services.

Viewers will learn about the second most common type of progressive dementia, known as Lewy body disease. Lewy body symptoms include changes in cognition, movement, sleep, and behavior.

Also, hear from a central Ohio woman who achieved the rank of four-star general and walked away from her ‘non-traditional’ role to take on a new role as the caretaker of her father who has Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s Clinical Trials: 

And, we break down the “mind diet” with the specific “superfoods” believed to help support the brain during aging.

Then, we talk to Dr. Douglas Scharre at Ohio State University, who helped lead the clinical trials of the possible breakthrough drug known as lecanemab. He also developed the SAGE test, which helps to detect early signs of cognitive, memory or thinking impairments.
