CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - A man was arrested after allegedly punching a hairdresser in the face after he was dissatisfied with his Great Clips haircut.

Chillicothe police officers were called to the Great Clips salon located at 1290 North Bridge Street at about 10:39 a.m. on June 28 on a report of an assault.

While officers were in route, they were advised the assault suspect, identified as Jimmy Hung Quoc Nguyen, was last seen walking through the gas pumps at Sam’s Club just south of where the incident had occurred.

When the responding officer made contact with Nguyen, he was advised by Nguyen that he was upset with the haircut that he had received from Great Clips.

The officer advised Nguyen that he had received a complaint that Nguyen had assaulted a female stylist in the salon, at which time Nguyen became agitated and asked: “are you going to believe a woman over a man?”

As the officer was documenting Nguyen’s statement, Nguyen allegedly swung at him. The officer was able to deflect the punch and began to detain Nguyen.

A second officer responded to the scene and the two officers attempted to place Nguyen under arrest. Nguyen resisted, but was eventually placed in handcuffs and placed in the back of a Chillicothe cruiser.

The officers transported Nguyen to the scene of the alleged assault so that they could speak with the alleged victim, Samantha Lanman.

Lanman told officers she had been asked by an employee to assist with fixing Nguyen’s hair after he became upset with how it had been cut. Lanman advised the officers she was the manager on duty at the time of the incident. Nguyen demanded Lanman fix his hair.

Lanman said Nguyen became increasingly agitated and caused a disturbance within the business. She told officers Nguyen became very rude and began to point fingers.

At that point, Lanman said she asked her employee to remove Nguyen’s cape. Lanman advised Nguyen that his haircut would not be completed and asked him to leave the salon. Nguyen refused to leave, at which time he allegedly stood up and struck Lanman in the face with his right fist, according to the police report.

Employees say a male customer escorted Nguyen out of the salon following the alleged assault.

Five employees were witnesses to the incident, according to police. The officers were also able to view the alleged assault on surveillance video from inside the salon

Nguyen has been charged with assault and resisting arrest. He was also issued a summons charging him with criminal trespass.

Officers transported Nguyen to the Ross County Jail where he initially refused to exit the patrol vehicle. Once inside the facility, he was continually uncooperative, according to officers. Deputies at the jail were forced to use a stun gun on Nguyen to get him to cooperate.
