Denton was stopped by Columbus police officers on Nov. 25, 2013 after she was two hours late in dropping off students from Southwood Elementary School.

Witnesses said she was driving erratically.

Officers reported finding an open bottle of whiskey on the bus, and that Denton tested over the legal limit for blood alcohol content.

There were two students on the bus at the time, but they were not injured.

Denton submitted her resignation on Dec. 4.
