COLUMBUS, Ohio -

Detectives from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are searching for answers regarding the murder of the owner of a Hilliard cab company Tuesday night.

The body of Paul DeVitt, 49, was found in the Hayden Heights mobile home park located on Cosgray Road in northwest Franklin County.

DeVitt was driving a black 2007 Chevy Suburban. He was working for the company Uber Black, according to detectives, but he also ran his own cab and limo service. DeVitt’s Hilliard cab company would take bar patrons home, sometimes free of charge, just to keep drunk drivers off of the road.

“We don't know if he had regular customers, if he gave a ride to a stranger, or if it's something through the company. We're checking, we can follow up on that obviously, but the other two it gets a little confusing as to who he was with that evening" said Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott.

DeVitt’s SUV is missing and detectives believe he may have been the victim of a robbery.

His body was found outside of the front office of the mobile home park.

There are no suspects at this time, but investigators tell NBC4 they don’t believe this was a random robbery.

"We don't have anything to indicate that he was doing anything that he shouldn't have been doing other than working, but to me looking at the scene, looking at it as I did my years in homicide, it's one of those things where I don't believe this is the first time he's ever picked up this individual," said Scott.
