UPS Deliveries Delayed By Weather

Posted: Updated:

Customers of UPS are wondering what's holding up their package deliveries. Many have taken to the company's Facebook page to complain about everything from inaccurate package status to delayed delivery.

UPS posted the following message on its website:

"Although snow and ice has fallen across much of the country over the past few days, at this point, UPS is making pickups and deliveries in nearly all ZIP Codes. Contingency plans are in place, however, there may be service delays due to winter weather in the Northeast and the Dallas Metroplex area."

The message further states that the "UPS Service Guarantee" does not apply when weather affects transportation networks.

"I got an email from Aeropostale this morning. I'm currently waiting on the phone for a human being to explain when I might get my order," said Katherine Rollins.

But UPS customers aren't the only ones waiting. Jane Grannan ordered a luggage set in late November. It was supposed to be delivered by FEDEX December 2.

"It's just a little bit frustrating. Even with the weather delay and what not. It says it's coming from Florida and we haven't' had any ice or snow storms in that part of the country," said Jane.

Delays in shipping and delivery are to be expected during the holiday season. UPS expects to handled 28 million packages by next Tuesday, the shipping company's peak day of year.

Susan Rosenberg, public relations director for UPS, told NBC4, "UPS pickups and deliveries are active in every ZIP code, though weather in parts of the country delayed some package processing, especially in the Dallas metroplex and portions of Arkansas. UPS airplanes are flying into all airports, so we've not seen impacts on Next Day Air or 2nd Day Air service in Columbus. We appreciate our customers' patience during this busy time of year."

Customers of UPS, USPS and FEDEX are encouraged to use the tracking numbers provided to keep up to date on the status of their packages. If the packages don't arrive, they may file a claim for reimbursement.
